Where are the best bars to go to in vancouver bc?

I am planning on going to vancouver bc on Sept. 3rd and its going to be my first time in downtown. I would like to find a few bars/clubs to go to. So what are the best places to party and go out? anything gay friendly is a big plus. Thanks for all the help.
