Do we need a God to have morality?

Every society whether it is theistic or not has the same basic rules regarding killing, theft and adultery. Societies cannot work unless there are rules and you do not need gods to impose them. Sam Harris has an excellent book out at the moment called The Moral Landscape. It is worth reading.
