[For girls] I need your opinion on this?

My girlfriend saw me hugging my friend.( She's a girl.) and so my girlfriend overreacted and thought i was cheating on her and i explained to her that it was just a friendly hug between me and my friend. How would you react if you saw your boyfriend hugging one of his friends thats a girl? I mean, i just hugged my friend because she was leaving for a performance downtown and i wish her luck and have her a hug also. And i explained this to my girlfriend too but she didnt believe me. How would've you reacted? What should i do? is my girlfriend overreacting?
