Who believes in evp and why, I'm skeptical but open-minded?

I decided to give it a try and break out a digital voice recorder and record for a few minutes of nothing then I transfered it to my computer and ran it through Audacity and I must say a lot of random sounds could be construed as somewhat words but I could easily tell they werent words in my opinion. Are these faint words what people think are actual ghost voices? or are there hard to argue with words and sentences on evp in your experience?
